Hi Y'all
You might have noticed I build some pretty extensive playlists from my music library.
I've many more yet to share. Takes awhile to create those notepad lists.
First, I build the lists in WMP (Windows Media Player) ~ I'm most familiar with that software.
My entire library is on a second, external hard drive.
I only keep the music I really like on my C drive. (Space can be an issue)
I build the playlists and name them according to when or why I will play them.
I always play them on shuffle play (Random Sort).
My Last.FM account is linked to my WMP and my WinAmp.
When I play a song at least halfway or 4 minutes, it 'scrobbles' it to my account.
This allows me to track my listening habits and share my listening history.
Here at home, My Computer is connected to my JVC surround sound system and my TV.
Everything I do on my computer is pumped thru my sound system and monitored on my TV.
I'm running MTX loudspeakers (4), Yamaha Surround speakers w/powered center.
I used to have a bunch of components to my system but my computer now does all the tuning.
I primarily use Winamp for playlist listening.
Mainly because of Milkdrop 2.
Milkdrop 2 flat out destroys WMP Visualizers.
Most of the time, Milkdrop 2 is windowed and positioned as such:
I can go full screen but I like the look of the WinAmp contol panel.
I do choose View and Hide my desktop icons.
So, Milkdrop 2 right out of the box comes with WinAmp.
I didn't download any other visualizer software.
Out of the box its pretty good but if ya go into the settings you can tweak it to do all sorts of things.
Here is how I have mine set.
Mostly, its all default.
Most of the changes are small tweaks for timing and patterns.
But, the results are pretty amazing. Been over a year and I'm still seeing new patterns and colors.
Another thing I can do while listening to my playlists is to set up GOM player which plays videos in small windows.
All you do is set GOM (or your Fav Player) to allow multiple instances.
Then ya set the players so they fit into the corners of your screen.
I'll do this when I have company visiting so they can focus on movies as well as the music (you would be surprised at how much the movies align with the music).
This takes a bit of prep.
Ya gotta choose the movies (or videos) and set the player up.
Then you mute the movies and allow them to play muted as the music plays.
Here is a raw set up pic showing the set up.
That's the limit of the screenshots I have taken so far.
Seriously, I can't just listen to music anymore without my Milkdrop Visualizer.
So, when you are building your playlists, think about getting and tweaking WinAmp.
WinAmp is available for Win10.
It comes with Milkdrop 2.
The Last.FM scrobbler plug-in is available at Last.fm.
You can get an account at Last.Fm for free (add me as a friend).
Enjoy!
